Don’t Miss the Sunset: A Lesson from the Bahamas You Need to Hear

Jun 14, 2025

We just returned from a glorious trip to the Bahamas—just the five of us.
It was our way of celebrating.
Not just the milestones from this year…
but from many, many years of showing up.
Of enduring. Of growing.

It’s been hard.
Really hard, at times.
But in the stretching and the fire, we’ve grown roots.

And something I never used to do—I’m learning to do now.
Celebrate.
The small wins. The quiet breakthroughs. The sacred pauses.
Because joy should be shared.
Because our delight brings God delight.

This trip gave me the rest I didn’t even know I was starving for.
It restored something in me.
And now, my heart is full… my mind is free to write, to create, to pour out.

So I’ve been revisiting my journal—capturing all the places I saw God that week.
Little lessons whispered in waves and skies and sunsets.

✨ Lesson from the Island: “Wait for It…”

One night, we went chasing the sunset.
Golf carts bumping down shell rock roads, palms swaying in the wild, unkept beauty.
We reached the edge of the island—waiting, hoping.

But clouds rolled in.
The color we had dreamed of? Never came.
So we left… chasing ice cream instead.

And then—
God showed off.

As we meandered back toward town, the clouds split open in hues of fuchsia and fire.
A masterpiece we almost missed.

Because we were impatient.
Because we didn’t wait.

And in that moment, I heard it again in my spirit:

“There He goes again… always showing off somewhere.”

Even when you can’t see it…
Even when it feels quiet…
Even when your sky looks gray—

He’s working. He’s creating. He’s weaving something glorious behind the scenes.

Please don’t miss it like I almost did.
Wait for it. Trust Him. He is working it all for your good and His glory.

“When you can’t see God’s hand, trust His heart.” – Charles Spurgeon
